« The Friday Concert and a Movie» SCOTUS term concludes on high note

Yearning for Sabo

Keith EllisonI didn’t like Sabo, but I have to say I miss him everytime I see this man on the TV or other media.

One of my alter-ego email addresses found its way on to the Rep. Keith Ellison (CD-5) mailing list. Yesterday I receive the first email in some time and in a shocking development he is doing a little begging for cash to help make is June 30 filing number look a little better.

Just look at the exciting things I could help support if I only sent Mr. Ellison a check.

I am writing today to ask for your help. I have been working in Congress on the issues we all care about–ending the war in Iraq; fighting for universal health care coverage; and working for sustainable environmental policies.

Working together, we raised the minimum wage, rolled back subsidies to big oil, and cut interest rates on student loans. We have passed legislation on this agenda, but we have a lot more work to do.

Progressives need to continue to organize and advocate for our agenda in the 2008 elections. I am going to work very hard for candidates who share our agenda. I need your help in order to continue to fight for the issues we care about. We need to fight for peace, prosperity for working families, and civil and human rights.

Ellison letter on June 27, 2007Rep. Ellison is asking for cash for the 2008 cycle and this leads me to wonder if he is nervous about a challenge from within. I personally do not think he will face any primary challenge, but one can certainly hope. If you want to see the whole let click on the image or go to “jump”.

Dear James,

First, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during my first term as Congressman for Minnesota’s fifth district. I believe that if we work together, we can advance the politics of generosity and inclusion.

Today, I ask you to join me and continue your commitment to the progressive values we all share. With precinct caucuses on the horizon and our June 30 reporting deadline fast-approaching, your financial support is crucial in our effort to ensure that we have the resources we need for the upcoming 2008 election season.

Our funding comes from a grassroots movement of people giving what they can afford, $35, $50, $100 or $250. Now is the time!

Please send your contribution by June 30. You can give through my website at www.keithellison.org.

Please give what you can and help us keep our historic momentum.

Thank you again for your commitment to inclusion and generosity. Together we will create a more fair, just and peaceful world.

Sincerely,
-Keith
