Well, he did it too! Nuh-uh! Nuh-huh!

Mitch Berg e-pens a hilarious take on Hillary’s, uh, misstatement about, well, this not exactly being her experience in Tuzla.

I looked down the ridge to the tarmac 1000 meters away, and my mission was re-clarified; the C130 transport plane, with the crowd of troops and civilians huddled behind a Humvee behind it, pinned down by sniper fire.  Fire from the snipers I was hunting.

Down on the tarmac, I saw a man in camouflage make a run for a dugout by the runway; a couple of SVD sniper rifles, unseen in the scrub not far in front of me, barked almost simultaneously, again and again. The man zigzagged between the geysers of mud that the 7.62mm shots spewed into the air as he dove, head-first, into a slit trench.  He made it, miraculously.

“This is Stain Six…” an out-of-breath-sounding voice yelled over the radio, “Vulture and Vulture Chick are pinned down on the tarmac. We need to get the snipers…”

The snipers’ rifles cracked again, and the voice cut off a second later.  Stain Six – the Secret Service mission leader – was pinned down hard.

And so, with Obama in his own flap over the Rev. Wright, the two campaigns do what campaigns do best. Pretend the voters are a bunch of idiots and wave frantically and point maniacally at the teeny mouse in the corner while hoping the voters don’t notice the morbidly obese elephant in the middle of the room.

Hillary Clinton Tuesday revived the row over fiery racial rhetoric by Democratic foe Barack Obama’s former pastor, as she tried to dodge a storm over her overblown account of a 1996 trip to Bosnia.

With the White House race again consumed by bitterness, the New York Senator said she would have left the church had her pastor come out with remarks like those of Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

The Obama campaign accused her of trying to deflect from her own embarrassment, after she admitted that her claims that she dodged sniper fire during the Bosnia trip as first lady were untrue.

“I made a mistake, that happens. It proves I’m human, which, for some people, is a revelation,” Clinton said, as the controversy raged, distracting from her claims of high-level foreign policy experience.

She used that same news conference in Pennsylvania, to pointedly discuss Wright, after a week of choosing not to comment on the issue.

Here’s what I think of when I see campaigns involved in hair-pulling and eye-gouging snits like this…

Boo hoo. Life is tough. Don’t make up stuff to try and burnish your resume, and don’t staple yourself to demagogues. Makes it so much easier on yourself.
