Glenn Beck talked to Joe the Plumber and found out that he was “appalled” by John McCain’s support of the “Big Bank Bailout”. Sadly, John hadn’t met Joe to have asked him before he decided to vote for it.

I would bet that Sarah Palin was (or would have been, if asked internally) appalled, too. It seems that she might not have been asked for her strategic opinion. She was and remains loyal.

It’s not clear that John McCain would have considered the “Big Bank Bailout” such a “Crap Sandwich” (not his public quotes, I believe) at the time if it had been earmark-free. We can never know when he recognized that even an earmark-free Bailout would have been a big mistake.

The “Big Bank Bailout” was a mistake. It must now be clear to John McCain that supporting it was a big mistake. It should also be clear that the looming “Big 3 Auto Bailout” would be a big mistake. Mr. McCain?
