The “Reid-Pelosi Airquotes Stimulus Act”

Like so many things these days, it is already historic by its very existence. It will need a name for the history books, but the name should be aural. I propose the above.

We need to dispense with “Scamulus”, “Porkulus”, “Porculus”, “Spinulus”, “Spendulus”, and “Hopenchangeyouless” as the appropriate derogatory term for what “something stupid this way comes”. Michelle Malkin’s “Generational Theft Act of 2009″, adopted by Dr. Tom Coburn, is accurately descriptive in the extreme, but it falls far short of uniquely describing this Demagogic bill. These names are all unfortunately more sarcastic than ironic. They lack elements of nomenclature chosen by its putative authors themselves.

Regarding authorship, it’s pretty clear that Ms. Pelosi’s fingerprints are all over the bill. Mr. Obama is certainly laying a strong claim of ownership (see “Obama Turns Up Heat”) but one still wonders whether he could write (so much) by himself. Nobody else seems to want to take ownership or authorship of this monstrosity, but Mr. Reid seems a strong (yet appropriately feeble) contender (see “Sen. Reid Is Hopeful”).

Regarding uniqueness of nomenclature, Obama will probably be pushing Airquotes Stimulus bills for the next two-and-a-half years, but one may be rather confident that Ms. Pelosi and/or Mr. Reid will be out of the Airquotes Stimulus business sooner. Exactly as Misters Smoot and Hawley got out of the Tariff business. It will be very important for someone to get a good photo of the handshake.
