The Senate voted 61-37 for an amended HR-1. The Senate version was amended, so it must be reconciled with the House version by a “conference committee”, and the result will require another affirmative vote by each house. Thus the RINO Spendulus Trio (Collins, Snow, and Specter) have time to recognize how misguided their actions have been.

Back on Feb. 6, as identified by Michelle Malkin, there was a quivering quartet of RINOs. Last Friday, Voinovich broke ranks with the rank-breakers. We should commend anyone who, however belatedly, sees reason to defend US.

On Jan. 12, Senator George Voinovich announced that he will retire and not seek a third term. Reviewing Mr. Voinovich’s Senate career thus far, history will discern little of principle or significance. He still has a few good years to redeem himself. Perhaps he found his inner conservative as he abandoned the “bi-partisan” negotiations on Friday. Welcome!
